1 Week, 3 Projects!

The week leading up to Christmas was very busy with last-minute crocheted gifts. I surprised myself by making three items from start to finish in one week!

Each individual project will be blogged separately in time but for now, here's a summary of my burst of productivity!

A blue crocheted turtle crawling across the lawn. The pattern on the shell is made of coloured hexagons. The turtle has a happy smile on its face.

A crocheted mesh bag with a drawstring handle. It contains a small bottle of shower gel and is hanging over a stainless steel bathroom tap.

A toddler hat in white and hot pink. It has a solid crown with an open crossed stitch pattern on the sides and brim. It has a thin band of hot pink either side of the brim. It also has a hot pink drawstring which is finished with circle motifs to prevent the drawstring from slipping out of the hat.

It is amazing what can be done when there are no school runs, appointments or other commitments.

Hooray for holidays!

    1. Happy New Year, Gillian! Did you get much crocheting done over the holidays? The shower gel caddy was so quick, even though I was making it up as I went along. It isn't perfect, but it works and I hope to share the little pattern soon. It took between half an hour to an hour (at the most - hard to say because it is easy to lose track of time when doing something one loves) but that included thinking / puzzling time and writing time as well as crocheting. I hope that 2016 brings lots of opportunities for crafting, cooking and other happy activities. x

    1. Happy New Year Mary Ann! I am working on a turtle post today. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the pattern online because it was published in a leaflet and the yarn for which it was written has been discontinued. There may still be a copy available from the publisher (Spotlight) if we ask nicely or an equivalent pattern may exist in a different jurisdiction.

  5. Hey Jodie, wow these are all great gifts! Shows what you can get done when you got a bit more time! I totally love the turtle!!!!

I found a free crochet pattern for a bigger turtle, if anybody is interested

But I guess it would be just as easy to improvise something by looking at your photo!!

Looks like you had fun, which is the main thing!

    1. Wow! That's a cute turtle! Thanks so much for posting that link, Ingrid. That turtle would make a good pajama bag I reckon. That's a good one. I really like it!
I did have fun making three quick projects.
You are always making so many things at once and so quickly - maybe we could say I 'did an Ingrid'? hehehe
      Cheers! xx

    2. Ingrid, I notice your linked turtle has legs made by crocheting in rows and then folding them, stitching together and then stuffing them. Easy for people who don't want to work in the round or for modified teeny tiny versions.
It is an alternative to the amigurumi spiral technique although I would probably improvise an amigurumi leg because I will avoid as much seaming as possible!
The head is also done in rows with a gusset. That gives the head shape good definition.
