Goodie Bag Winners!

We just had a long weekend in South Australia
with a public holiday Monday for Adelaide Cup Day.

The Adelaide Cup is a horse race. While the punters were having a flutter at the races, I decided that Adelaide Cup Day would be a good day for a  flutter or mini-sweep of our own by drawing the winners of Lupey Loops' very first giveaway.

Of Bards & Bikes

McLaren Vale, South Australia …

Landscape picture of McLaren Vale, fields of grapevines in the foreground, a homestead building in the middle with the Mt Lofty Ranges and Fleurieu peninsula in the background.
Southern Vales and Mt Lofty ranges.
… on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula
where I've had a lovely time with 'bards and bikes'.

Tour Down Under 2018 Photos (Part 1)

Three paramedics in their green uniforms congregate at the McLaren Vale starting line in the crisp morning summer sun. Two are standing with one sitting on a yellow pushbike. Race spectators are gathering behind the blue, white and red barriers behind the paramedics.
Paramedics meet under the starting banner before the race:

Last year was so hectic, I forgot to share my photos of the 2018 Tour Down Under where even the paramedics are on bikes!

With little time to spare before the next Tour Down Under rolls around (10–20 January 2019), I've posted more photos, fewer words. Enjoy!

Housekeeping: in the Home and on the Blog

Mid-July.
Winter.
School holidays.
Tour de France on TV.
(Is anyone participating in the 'Tour de Fleece' activity? Not me.)

I am sitting in a house full of boxes and being subjected to paint fumes while my home is being painted inside and out for the first time since it was built 21 years ago.
Happy 21st Birthday home!

Tour Down Under 2017 at Marvellous McLaren Vale

Setting up for the race.

An early arrival in McLaren Vale, South Australia for
Stage 5 of the Tour Down Under:

The main street is closed and everyone is setting up
for a great day of bike racing.

Park the car, start heading off,
then realise "I've forgotten the camera!"

Mobile phone to the rescue! The photos in this blog entry will be less about 'sports action' and more about the celebratory 'atmosphere'  in McLaren Vale, the heart of the Southern Vales wine region on the Fleurieu Peninsula of South Australia.
