Installing Anzac Day Crochet at Brighton Jetty

Visitors to Brighton Beach, South Australia, can now observe a beautiful Anzac Day tribute created by Dianne Schroeder.  It was a privilege to spend an hour with some lovely ladies, helping them to put up the banners made up of hundreds and hundreds of crocheted poppies.

Last year's inaugural Beanies to Berets Exhibition by Onkaparinga Arts was such a success, it is now an annual event but bigger and better.

There were so many amazing handmade hats at the Port Noarlunga Arts Centre's 'Beanies to Berets' Exhibition that I kept going back to have another look
(and touch and try on).   

It was a super place to find a piece of wearable art to call your very own.  There were beanies and berets to please everyone, from the most conservative to the artistic and crazy-coloured!

Last weekend was the weekend for pop culture festivals.

San Diego, USA hosted the massive Comic-Con convention and, at the same time, Adelaide, Australia had its own annual AVCon festival.

Spring Stories & Spider Stitches

Spring is not my favourite season.
Itches, asthma, too much sneezin'
Blowflies, spiders, creepy crawlies,
Coughs and colds and feeling poorly,

Lack of sleep from daylight savings,
Gives cause to senseless daytime ravings!
New growth, flowers, seeds and sprouts,
(until the bunny digs them out!)

Weeds and wildlife, changing weather,
Pure vexation altogether;
For a multitude of reasons
Spring is not my favourite season.

In June, I was busy making poppies for a special project.

Today, Remembrance Day, poppies come into prominence again.  These poppies were used in a commemorative project so today is an appropriate day to show you the results.

Footy Friendships & Corporate Crochet

I brought home three…

Meditative or … boring?

The ribbing on the Belcarra Cardigan seems to be taking forever to complete.

It is simple crochet ribbing–working evenly, 14 stitches per row, the same row over and over–very meditative … or dare I say boring?

Design Characteristics of an Easy Pattern

I have worked 42 rows so far!

The back panel of my cardigan is done (hooray) up to the start of the sleeve shaping and I am loving its easiness.

The Belcarra Cardigan is straightforward to work due to clever design characteristics.

If that's not enough for simplicity, use available tools (or create your own) to make it even easier to work and navigate your project.
