A Bowl of Cherries

Cherries are one of the joys of Christmas in Australia.
They are only in season for a few short weeks.

Above view of a bowl of red cherries (centre) and the corner of a black laptop computer (right hand side). They are resting on a tabletop covered with a mid-blue tablecloth. The bowl is off-white ceramic with two handles and cast in a filigree lace pattern.

Self-doubt & Sleeplessness on a Wednesday Morning

Morning light and the house is quiet.
fallen autumn leaves of reddish brown and yellow fallen onto green foliage.
I've been awake since at least 4 a.m. after tossing and turning for hours on the warmest April night since I don't know when. The temperature remained above 21° C (70° F) overnight which is unheard of, for this time of year.

Easter always heralds beanie and scarf weather for me–why are we getting summer nights in autumn?

Stashbusting to a Deadline

You think you have all the time in the world …

the baby's due date is months away …

and then Expectant-Mum's-Best-Friend casually mentions that the pregnancy is already 37 weeks along …

37 weeks already !

(sound of shocked crochet hook crashing to the floor)

That's not much time at all until baby is due to arrive and I haven't even started on that blanket I plan to make for him!

Out of the Crochet Comfort Zone

I am a believer that the most learning and personal growth happens when one is 'outside the comfort zone' and this year, I've been tempted to go there.

New Year Thoughts as We Head into 2016

Max, a tri-colour Dutch bunny (black, white and orange) reclining on a concrete path.
Baby Max, only 9 weeks of age.
I am sitting here, reading blogs at the breakfast table while bunny sits underneath my chair nudging my feet with his nose and tugging at my pajama bottoms.  'Let's play!' Max urges as I stroke him gently with my bare feet.

Meanwhile, I am enjoying the Happy New Year wishes being disseminated across the blogosphere and wishing you a Happy New Year too!

2015 Half-yearly Review

As the 30th of June marks the halfway mark of 2015, I am undergoing a half-yearly review.

Welcome 2015: A Year of New Projects

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2015!
How did you see in the new year?

I had a quiet night in with close friends, favourite foods and good fun. At midnight, with both sparklers and 'sparkly', we toasted goodbye to 2014 and welcome to 2015. I wish you all the best of happiness and good fortune in the coming year.

Thank you for your support in 2014, especially for visiting, reading, emailing, sharing, supporting, encouraging, teaching, commenting, introducing yourself and allowing me to get to know you and make new friends in the crafty side of the blogosphere. May this trend continue in 2015.

What do you want from 2015?

I want 2015 to be the year for new projects; when I say 'new', I mean altogether new–projects that are new to the world because they are projects that I have either redesigned in part with modifications or projects that have been designed from scratch all by myself.

April Update

It's the 1st of April but this is not an April Fool's Day joke - just a quick update on my current activities.

Almost there! Affirmation & Acceptance

On 3 August 2013 I suffered a flare up of symptoms.  I was forced to withdraw from all but the essential activities in order to rest and recover. Hence no blog posts until today.

It reminded me of my positive affirmation from a previous blog post:

"live well even if you can't get well".

Loose ends...

My goal for Lupey Loops is to post at least once a fortnight for at least a year.  (Goal #9 in the list of My Ten Crochet Goals for 2013)

I am sorry to say that three weeks have gone by without a new blog entry.  I appreciate your patience as you visit Lupey Loops only to find nothing new. Meanwhile I wrestle with the end-of-semester exhaustion in a year of having extra commitments and events.

Deadlines & Disappointments

I've been away from the computer for a little while because of busily trying to complete a particular project and I am disappointed that I have missed my deadline to have it finished.

Socks for Christmas

Do you give or receive socks at Christmas time? Socks are often an integral part of Christmas, birthday and fathers' day gifts. Last year, my family gave me the joy of socks...

Big Ambitions to Meet Crochet Targets

As the end of 2012 approaches, it's a good time to stop and reflect on the past year. This year was the first time I had ever deliberated about my crochet goals with a timeline in mind and actually committed them to paper. As if that wasn't enough challenge, I posted my list in online crochet forums so now there was no escape–I had to be accountable in twelve months' time too! Scary? Nervewracking?  Plain silly perhaps?
