Four-letter Words!

The reason for no blog posts since September is a new word in the vocabulary

which has 4 letters:

NDIS *

I am not a person to regularly use four-letter words, 

but this one definitely IS one

Knock, knock. Hello?

Anybody home?

That’s how it feels around Lupey Loops at the moment, in more ways than one because I’ve either been physically out (not at home) or I’ve been so tired and addled with brainfog (from being out and about) that I’ve felt like “the lights are on but nobody’s home” in my head!

Marching into April (Update)

Well, well, well ...

Forgive me for not posting any news on Lupey Loops since January.
(Yes, January! [shock, horror] I can hardly believe it myself.)

Access All Areas: Disability Pride Parade

Today is the International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD).

It is a United Nations sanctioned day celebrated internationally which "aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with disability."

I celebrated by participating in my first ever public rally! A Disability Pride Parade through the streets of Adelaide, South Australia.

Battling Bureaucracy

So much to blog about, so little happening on the blog!
 
It’s not for want of trying but my attention has been temporarily diverted to bigger bureaucratic battles.

A Mum's Day Off

Wednesday is the one day in the week that has 

no appointments, no visitors, no support staff and

none of the offspring at home. 

The house is empty; no need to watch the clock. 

It is the perfect day of the week to have my 'day off' 

but I am beginning to wonder about today …

It was a Mayday call on a Monday May Day morning that brought about the ambulance ride, through peak hour traffic, to a major city hospital.

Self-doubt & Sleeplessness on a Wednesday Morning

I've been awake since at least 4 a.m. after tossing and turning for hours on the warmest April night since I don't know when. The temperature remained above 21° C (70° F) overnight which is unheard of, for this time of year.  

Easter always heralds beanie and scarf weather for me–why are we getting summer nights in autumn?

It's been almost a month since
Maker Faire Adelaide and you have been patiently waiting for news.

The official word is that Maker Faire Adelaide (#mfADL) is now the largest in the southern hemisphere!

No wonder it has taken me so long to recover!
It  was a fun and fantastic day.

At last, I am up and about again, ready to tell you about my very first crochet exhibition:

There's so much to tell, from the practicalities of participating in a large event while managing chronic illness, to setting up the exhibit, meeting people and having as much fun as possible.  This will probably take more than one blog entry so be prepared and consider yourself warned!

Beach Days & Birthdays

I've always loved the beach. It is one of my favourite places. Sadly, it is not always the best thing or the easiest thing for me to go down to the beach. Nevertheless, I managed to get to the beach twice: to watch sailing and see the sunset.

To Help or Not To Help (Part 3): I Can Do It Myself!

People are often confused when I say "No, thank you" to their genuine offers of assistance.  While outwardly I might appear to struggle physically with a task, inwardly there are invisible benefits when I do things myself.

This football* season has been great for the Adelaide 'Crows' Football Club. 

The team even made it to the second spot on the Premiership ladder during the year!

This means one thing: finals!

Quick August Update

August is turning out to be a busy month.

Fatigue is more than a nuisance and I'm falling behind on activities in both work and play.
