Maker Faire Adelaide 's 2017 postcard

Last year, it was so much fun!

What can we expect from Maker Faire Adelaide in 2017?

It's all explained on the back of the postcard.
Find further information via the links listed at the end of this blog entry.

The back of the Maker Faire postcard. Mascot "Sam" the robot is in the bottom left corner holding up a paintbrush daubed with red paint. Top left corner has the heading "Adelaide Maker Faire". Next to the heading is the following black text on a white background quoted in the body of the blog entry. Maker Faire Adelaide's web site address is in bold red letters in the centre. From the heading, a curve bordered by two blue bands sweeps down towards the bottom of the card and then up again towards the right edge. Some of the words within the blue section are: Science, Arduino, Digital A.., Drones, Hatter, Robots, ..tonomous Boats, Japanese Armour, Tinsmith, Computing, Lego Building, Experiments, 3D.., Jewellery Design, Hologram..words fade into a screen of pale blue onto which the followoing details are printed: South Australian Makers logo, samakers.org, Sunday November 5, 2017 10am-4pm Tonsley; Email: info@samakers.org; Twitter: @MakerFaireADL; Facebook: MakerFaireADL; A box on the bottom right says "WINNER Community Event of the Year 2017 - City of Marion (logo), Australia Day Celebrate what's great (logo)
...and this is the back of the postcard!

For friends who find it hard to read text in photos and graphic elements, I will quote it here:

Maker Faire Adelaide 2017 will bring together people and ideas to inspire, inform, connect and entertain at a family friendly festival of invention and creativity. The largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, it will be a celebration of the best Australian technology, engineering, science, arts, crafts, education, food and more! All of this under one roof at Tonsley, South Australia's hub for innovation, education and entrepreneurship.

This award is extremely well-deserved by the Event Managers, Alison, David, Katrina, and their Organising Team and Crew who did an absolutely awesome job.  Congratulations all!

  1. Marvellous Jodie! Are you planning a class or workshop for this year? I look forward to hearing about it!

    1. I'm not sure yet whether I will do a couple of workshops, an exhibit or just visit. I will need a long lead time but it depends on how this year pans out. So far, health issues and other priorities have sidelined by own crochet plans. It's very frustrating.

    1. I'm so glad you had fun last year, It was great, wasn't it?
It was nice to meet people and find out what they want to learn about so I've been toying with workshop ideas. I'm not sure about whether to have an exhibit this year. If 2017 so far is anything to go by, I may not get a chance to get an exhibit together. If I do, I want to offer some different things and improve on last year. I may settle for presenting a couple of workshops or just be a visitor this year and do an exhibit the following Faire. I'm not really sure at this early stage but I have until the Call for Makers to think about it. Whatever happens, we will have a good time!

  3. I'll be there is spirit. We went to one here is Vancouver last year, and I had wished there was more knitters/spinners/crocheters. I think next Maker Faire will have more of them.

    1. Will you be one of those knitters/spinners/crocheters, Mary-Anne? What was the representation of these crafts like at the Vancouver Maker Faire? I'm sure the organisers would love your feedback.
I will take your spirit on board and be mindful when considering my participation in this year's Maker Faire. Thank you so much - just knowing you are with me in spirit gives me the strength and courage to get out of my comfort zone with these events.
