Royal Adelaide Show 2018 Entries Open

Entries into the 2018 Royal Adelaide Show are now open for the Handicrafts section online. Use this link to see the prize schedule and entry forms: http://theshow.com.au/show-entries/competitions/handicrafts/

In this year's Royal Adelaide Show, a section specifically for Tunisian crochet (traditionally called 'tricot' by many Australians) has been included.

It was exciting to enter my crochet into the Royal Adelaide Show last year. Unfortunately, I have nothing to enter this year! Are you as aghast as I am?

This is because of all the bureaucracy and stress in my life at the moment. There's only so much energy to go around and when autoimmune illness is in the mix, I just cannot afford to add any more commitments to an already over-extended schedule that's teetering on the overwhelming.

Even though I have nothing to enter so far, there's nothing stopping you from entering some handicrafts in a show.

Royal Adelaide Show entries close on 22 June 2018 so there's plenty of time.

For more information, contact the Entries Team:

Good luck and HAVE FUN!

  1. So sorry to hear that you won't be entering anything this year, you must be disappointed. Hope you get a little relief soon.

    1. I am a frustrated and disappointed little crochet enthusiast at the moment, Lorraine! So much to make and no time ... you know how it goes! ;-)
Never mind, the main thing is that I've been able to avoid the hospital and am working hard on self care, hence the sporadic blog entries this year.
Thank you for thinking of me and taking time to message. x

  2. There is always next year, I'm sure you'll have something fabulous and that it will be a much nicer year altogether.

    1. I agree Amalia. It is hard to maintain the concentrated focus that's required for special items and events when there are so many pressing distractions. I don't want to be looking at those items later and be reminded of the stressful context in which they were made.

I'm keeping to simple 'mindless' crochet projects at the moment. Right now it's all about the process including relaxation and meditation rather than the product.

My internet and phone lines have been down for a couple of weeks too (because I didn't have enough stress already!) so I apologise for delays in replying and posting.

Thank you for continuing to visit and check in here. I need to see the pretty and whimsical things that you have been making. Thank you for the relief you give with your good humour and whimsy. xx
